HRTV TRAVELS TO BELMONT TO CHRONICLE CALIFORNIA CHROME'S TRIPLE CROWN QUEST
* Live On-site Coverage Begins Wednesday & Includes Post Position Draw, "Pursuit of the Crown" Remotes
* Network Offers Week-Long Special Triple Crown Programming, including Two Show Premieres
Elmont, NY, May 29, 2014 -- California Chrome's quest to become racing's first Triple Crown winner in 36 years has captured the nation's attention, and HRTV (R) will continue its extensive on-site coverage of this year's Triple Crown, when it begins live broadcasts from Belmont Park, on Wednesday, June 4.
Richard Migliore, Jeff Siegel, Christina Blacker and Caton Bredar will all be on-site to combine for daily all-inclusive coverage detailing California Chrome's relentless pursuit at racing immortality leading into the $1.5 million Belmont Stakes on Saturday, June 7.
"We are proud and delighted to deliver extensive coverage of California Chrome's historic run for the first Triple Crown in 36 years," said Scott Daruty, President of HRTV. "We also owe special thanks and gratitude to the cooperation and assistance we have received from the team at NYRA. We look forward to a memorable day at Belmont."
The network's on-site involvement will again consist of broadcasting the Belmont Stakes' post position draw on Wednesday at 11 a.m. ET.
"Fasig-Tipton's Pursuit of the Crown, presented by Twinspires.com" show (POTC) will emanate from Belmont through Sunday, and the half-hour show will provide the latest happenings, and up-to-date news, on Wednesday through Friday at Noon ET, and 11:40 a.m. ET on Belmont Stakes Day. There will also be special editions of POTC on Friday evening at 10 p.m. ET and Sunday at Noon ET, which will wrap-up the Triple Crown season.
HRTV's "Westrock Coffee First Call" will continue to supplement the on-site coverage, with an extended 90-minute show on Saturday (Noon ET). Similar to the Preakness, the show will originate from HRTV's set at Santa Anita’s Clocker’s Corner and be hosted by Aaron Vercruysse and Zoe Cadman, with Jeff Siegel offering his valuable insights directly from Belmont.
Additionally, HRTV's daily coverage from New York will include in-depth race coverage, the latest up-to-date information, timely interviews with the key connections of Belmont contenders and the latest workouts for Belmont entrants, as well as expert analysis from HRTV's stable of hosts/analysts.
The network's Belmont coverage will extend beyond its on-site presence, with the daily "Race Day America" show, as well as the weekly offerings, "The Edge" (Friday, 10:30 p.m. ET) and "Against the Odds" (Thursday, 8 p.m. ET) also contributing during the week.
Special Triple Crown Programming Spotlights Belmont Stakes
The network will also present special segments of Triple Crown programming for racing fans on Monday, June 2, when it debuts "HRTV Presents: California Chrome." The one-hour show, premiering at 6:30 p.m. ET, will recap HRTV's coverage of California Chrome's brilliant career, from his maiden win in 2013, to his 2014 march through the Southern California stakes preps and triumphs in the Kentucky Derby and the Preakness.
HRTV has been the source for all things California Chrome, with impromptu set interviews with his trainer, jockey and owner, as well as featured appearances on nearly all of HRTV’s regularly-scheduled programming throughout the winter and spring.
On Wednesday, June 4 (8 p.m. ET), the network will unveil "Pursuit of the Crown: 2014," a fast-paced summary of the memorable highlights the show has chronicled since beginning its in-depth Triple Crown coverage in February. It will journey from the initial stages of the Triple Crown trail when juvenile champion Shared Belief was battling for Kentucky Derby favoritism with the likes of Top Billing, Cairo Prince and Honor Code. California Chrome also made an appearance in that season-opening show, and later became a fixture while crafting a dominant winning streak and working his way atop Jeff Siegel’s "Elite Eight" rankings.
Additional Triple Crown-related programming will also air on Monday. The chasm of years since Affirmed's Triple Crown in 1978 has been well-documented and members of the network's on-air team will recount their favorite near misses over Belmont's grueling 1 1/2-mile surface with the re-airing of another show, "Triple Crown Misses," at 8:30 p.m. ET
That same evening, HRTV will also show "Triple Crown Memories," at 8:30 p.m. ET, with HRTV hosts/analysts recounting their favorite Triple Crown memories through the years. Additionally, the network will re-air two recent "Across The Board" episodes involving Chrome's jockey, Victor Espinoza (7:30 p.m. ET), and trainer, Art Sherman (9 p.m. ET).
